Roberto Lopez has been awarded at the XVI International Competition Contemporary Art Encounters organized by the Juan Gil Albert Culture Institute of Alicante. The jury's verdict was published last Friday 17 coinciding with the opening of the exhibition at the University of Alicante Museum (MUA).
The Alicante Provincial Government, through the Juan Gil Albert Culture Institute, convenes annually this contest endowed with 12,000 euros for the acquisition of various pieces. In this case, the work of Roberto Lopez acquired is a drawing of 150 x 100 cm belonging to the series Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, concretely the number 3 of the series.
The jury was composed by César Augusto Asencio, Elena Aguilera, Isaac Montoya, Remedios Navarro, José Piqueras, Emilio Roselló, Jesús Zuazo y Juana María Balsalobre. Of the 214 proposals submitted to the contest, the jury selected 24 to form part of the group exhibition at the MUA, and with the pieces in place and each artist’s assessment, the members of the jury met to establish the corresponding prizes with the budget of twelve thousand euros, as indicated in the conditions of the contest. The pieces that received a prize will then become part of the art collection at the Juan Gil-Albert Culture Institute of Alicante.
